Job Summary
To plan and execute product development innovation and margin enhancing projects for the Ambient Dry/IMF Savory category which will lead to new or modified products in support of the Innovation Process of the company. In addition to the development of new products for consumer and customer, both maintenance and product / profit improvement of existing products will be supported within this role, where vital to the Business.

Responsibilities
The Senior Food Scientist role will require the following work activities as part of a cross functional and often Global project team:

- Prepares a broad range of prototypes using a variety of resources to bring concepts to life
- Assesses the technical feasibility and identification of product related issues such as: new and unique ingredients, shelf life evaluations, and submission of safety clearance information
- Contributes to and conducts product development work required to deliver in-year cost savings/value enhancements for current business
- Develops specifications for new raw materials and finished products
-Works with Global teams to understand and implement IMF technologies successfully into NA compliant products, substituting NA compliant ingredients and preparing new specifications when necessary
- Participates and provides technical support in pilot plant, plant trials, and factory start-ups
- Manages product transition from development into the supply chain
- Supports supply chain improvement projects (including troubleshooting activities) where product knowledge is essential
- Supports all technical elements (recipe development, processing/pack requirements, specs and nutrition) of a project
- Works in partnership with the group leader, technical project leader (TPL), business partners in marketing (Brand Development and Brand Building), supply chain, procurement, quality, factories and other local R&D functions (specifications, packaging, microbiology, label compliance nutrition, CTI, analytical)
- Provides training and coaching for new R&D team members and temporary staff when appropriate
- Acts as a custodian of our brands to deliver superior product quality
- Embraces Unilever’s Performance Culture for “bigger, better, faster” innovation with a bias for action and focus on consumers
- Performs work using a ‘hands-on’ approach: working in the lab, pilot plant and factories; attending meetings and travel to the factories as much as needed to deliver the project
- Communicates effectively to key business partners fluently using formal and informal communications techniques

Key Requirements
BS degree Food Science or related field with minimum of 3 years Food or related experience .Ideal candidate will have experience in bench top product development, pilot plant, and factory, working with vendors, understanding sensory food attributes and able to articulate technical results to cross functional team members. Ideal candidate will have at least some experience working in Global teams Should be familiar with basic analytical, microbiology and specifications in order to produce high quality safe products.Basic understanding of thermal and aseptic processing of foods to ensure consumer safety
