Cargill  has an exciting opportunity available for a Food Scientist or Senior Food Scientist located at our Research & Development facility in Wichita, Kansas. This position will support our value added meats business for our foodservice and some retail customers.  


The purpose of the position is to manage projects, provide technical expertise and leadership to our busxiness and our customers: 

         Lead customer focused development for strategic customers (execute and implement customer development and cost savings initiatives (focus on collaboration with Cargill businesses)

         Build relationship with strategic customers,

         Lead innovation projects (participating in marketing sessions to build business opportunity, rsearch, develop and implement projects (capturing intellectual property))

         Food safety (test, validate, implement products or processes around food safety


         55% Research and develop innovative customer focused new products, services and solutions that deliver commercially viable new products.

         30% Provide technical leadership in product and process development and improvement, quality systems and regulatory oversight

         10% Build business unit, CAP platform and Cargill Corporate collaboration and provide technical expertise to team members

         5 % Build, maintain, and defend IP portfolio




         B.S. in food/meat Science, culinary arts, or food processing or equivalent experience . 

         Minimum 2 years experience in new product development, commercialization of new products, and/or research

         Highly motivated individual with a strong background in scientific procedure and project management skills

         Data analysis, experimental design, and technical writing and effective vocal communication skills

         Ability to demonstrate courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with others

         Builds relationships with internal and external customers

         Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task

         Clear and effective communication, both verbal and written

         Ability to influence outcomes with peers, customers and vendors

         Ability to manage, lead, motivate and evaluate people

         Self motivated with ability to work independently

         Innovative, practical, creative, and adaptable

         High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office

         Ability to travel (25-40%)


         M.S. or Ph.D.

         Experience in retail and/or foodservice, operations, and/or management

         Previous experience with statistical software
