Sr. Food Technologist - Food Scientist
About the Job
This is a direct-hire position and offers full benefits, growth

OBJECTIVES:
Work with minimal supervision to develop new and improved products
designed to meet consumer needs. To optimize product
quality via improvements in ingredients, processing strategies and
formulation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop new products and line extensions and manage product development
activity (design test work, obtain resources, evaluate results with team
and determine direction, maintain appropriate records of work) from
concept through commercialization.
. Design and conduct test work at pilot plant.
Conduct production shale-up and troubleshooting at startup of new
products.
Maintain and improve sensory expertise by conducting focus group and
trained panel sensory product testing.
Coordinate the tasks with other departments (Marketing, QA, Operations,
and Purchasing) to meet project goals and to manage the project
timetable.
Participate in team and departmental activities such as panels,
meetings, committees, administrative obligations (phone, e-mail)
Develop creative solutions for a wide range of complex problems which
require a
significant amount of ingenuity and creativity.
Maintain technical skills and personal improvement through completion
of appropriate training.
EXPERIENCE:
Approximately six (6) years of grain-based extruded product development
experience on cross-functional, multicultural, large scale project teams,
managing products from conception to commercialization.
REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION LEVEL:
* Preferred minimum of BS degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, or
related field or work experience demonstrating equivalent technical
skills.
* Position requires approximately 30% travel.
SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
* Strong formulation skills and understanding of food systems.
* Strong knowledge of flour and starch ingredient functionality.
* Strong knowledge of food processing.
* Understanding of sensory testing and statistics.
* Develop creative solutions for a wide range of complex problems which
require a
significant amount of ingenuity and creativity.
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments.
* Strong understanding of the relationship of processing equipment and
formulation.
* Strong understanding and development of product financial costing
analysis.
* Sense of multipolar international culture.
* Ability to lead and motivate a project team.
* Have a passion for food.
* Possess strong oral and written communication skills in order to
communicate with all levels of management.
* Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail, both in
written documentation and verbal clarity.
* Highly motivated and goal oriented with ability to adapt quickly to
change.
* Must be a strong team player
