Serve as Consumer Safety Officer / Special Assistant to the Branch Director of Regional State Programs, Office for Regulatory Affairs. You will work work with a range of Federal and State agencies within the Central Region, including the District of Columbia. The Branch is responsible for cooperative State- FDA functions, which includes Retail Food Service, Milk Safety, Shellfish Sanitation, Radiological Health and Laser Safety program responsibilities.

All applicants will be considered for competitive referral. In addition to competitive referral lists, separate referral lists will be generated for candidates who are eligible under Merit Promotion Program procedures. You are eligible under Merit Promotion Program procedures if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

-All Federal employees with career or career-conditional appointments.
-Former Federal civilian competitive status employees eligible for reinstatement, conversion or appointment to career or career conditional appointments.
-30% disabled veterans/ former servicemen with a minimum 3 years of service/ applicants eligible for Schedule A appointments, (i.e., disabled authority).
-former Peace Corps appointee or another type of noncompetitive appointment.

IMPORTANT: Status applicants must submit an SF-50 to document their eligibility for appointment. Other applicants must submit necessary documentation to support their eligibility for appointment. (e.g. DD214, Veteran's Administration Letter)
