Food Technologist – Baltimore, MD


Our client is looking for a skilled food technologist to assist their R&D Department with the development of new technologies. The food technologist will: •Conduct consumer market and new product research for the development of food ingredients/supplements. •Develop new and improved methods and systems for processing, production, quality control and packaging. •Study methods to improve quality of product, such as process and storage stability, bio-availability, nutritional value, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of food ingredients/supplements. •Develop food standards, safety and sanitary regulations, and waste management. •Test new production methods in test kitchen and develop specific processing methods in laboratory pilot plant, and confer with process engineers, flavor experts, and packaging and marketing specialists to resolve problems. •Conduct experiments and producing sample products, as well as designing the processes and machinery for making products. •Ensure quality control of raw materials and finished products and monitoring their progress through factory trials and data analysis •Perform a variety of laboratory tests and assays in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Required skills:
•BS Degree in Food Engineering or Technology or equivalent, preferred with 1-3 years of food experience. •Knowledge of a range of sciences and their applications to food/feed, eg; microbiology, chemistry, and nutrition •Microencapsulation experience a PLUS
