The Food Science Intern will be a contributing member of a team that brings together leading-edge technical knowledge to spur development of new products and processes. He or she will gain insight to industry while assisting Professionals in studies and projects.

The Food Science Intern is a resource to the Production facility and Pilot plant in the execution of tests and research studies. He or she will be mentored and receive training as assigned new responsibilities.

The Food Science Intern will be capable of working in a collaborative environment demonstrated by sharing ideas, opinions and expertise.

Learn and contribute in the production environment concentrating in Food Safety and Sanitation practices.

  Exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment for periodic extended workdays.

  Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.

  Duties may include, but not limited to:

  Understanding and complying with Good Manufacturing Practices

  Working with Team Leaders on Production floor

  Operating and assembling pilot plant equipment

  Arranging product shipments

  Sample preparation for laboratory analysis

  Help in the facilitation of Micro sampling and understanding of results

  Apply knowledge to the Production facility Sanitation and Quality Assurance programs

Document and maintain accurate and complete records relating to processing parameters, product attributes weights, etc.

  Collect and organize data

  Format, analyze, and summarize data

  Maintain current and accuracy laboratory notebook

  Food Science curriculum

  Completed coursework in food analysis

  Second or Third year undergraduate student
