DATE:                                     June 1, 2011 

PURPOSE:  To ensure the integrity and safety of Driscollís product through the administration of Driscollís Food Safety Program.

JOB SUMMARY:Overall responsibility is to implement Driscollís Food Safety Program for DSA growers, coolers, and packing houses in the Southern District. 

QUALIFICATION:  Bachelor of Science degree in an agricultural related field with emphasis on microbiology and/or plant science. Two years experience in agriculture with emphasis on microbiology and plant science may be substituted for education. Good verbal and written communication skills; self-starter; computer skills; some knowledge of laws and regulations of agricultural chemicals;*Bilingual Spanish/English; maintains a valid California driverís license. Requires extensive travel.

 RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Procedures:. Responsibilities include assisting growers and cooler facilities with Food Safety compliance, training of GAPS and GMPS, processing of grower pesticide use reports, the maintenance of Driscollís Chemical Application tracking database, coordination of laboratory assays, and routine sampling of irrigation water & pre-harvest fruit. This position will also be responsible for the performance of Driscollís internal audits to augment Independent Third Party Audits and the completion of special projects as assigned by the National Food Safety Operations manager.  

Program Management: Manage the efforts of Independent Third Party Companies to maintain the US GAP and Global GAP certifications of Driscollís growers, packing houses and coolers. Work closely with the national and regional Food Safety personnel to provide food safety training. 

Production Area Audits and Visits: Visit domestic areas of production to train new growers and assist current growers with compliance to Driscollís Food Safety Program.  Assist other DSA Food Safety personnel in other regions in the administration of Driscollís Food Safety Program.

Advisor: Keep current with revisions to the food safety audit compliance criterion and advise Growers and Driscollís Food Safety Team on any changes.  Provide advice, guidance and support to Driscollís growers and cooler personnel related to the execution of Driscollís Food Safety Program.

General: Ensures the security of Driscollís proprietary and confidential information and material. Follows Company policies and practices while representing Driscollís in an ethical and businesslike manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, etc. Performs other duties as assigned by the DSA food safety management team.

NOTE:  This position has to do with Agricultural Safety, NOT restaurants or kitchens.
