Position Description: Experienced Scientist with strong technical and communication skills to execute research platforms in the area of Fruit and Vegetable Applications/Juices.




         Lead/support key F&V strategies and platforms, including advantaged juices and sweetener applications


         Work with cross-functional R&D colleagues to design and execute research in a scientifically sound manner, and facilitate data analysis and interpretation.


         Interact and collaborate with R&D partners and support functions (Process Engineering, PD, Analytical, Sensory, Pilot Plant etc.) to ensure project success


         Utilize project management, project leadership and oral/verbal communication skills to manage and/or support projects


         Utilize scientific methods to develop knowledge that creates business opportunities that support the company strategic market objectives.


         Provide technical and business risk assessment/perspectives related to new product development.


         Design and execute experiments, and analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations on product and process issues.


         Communicate findings to technical peers and managers verbally, and in written reports


         Utilize knowledge management tools to ensure that research is documented appropriately for future reference


         Serve as administrator/user for newly developed applications tools (database, screening process)






         B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Science (or equivalent) with at least 5 years research/design/development experience. Advanced Degree preferred.


         Exhibit strong technical capability and curiosity that can be applied to project assignments


         Ability and interest to work in laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments


         Excellent project management and communication skills


         Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner


         Experience in experimental design, design approaches and application


         Experience with common sensory analysis methods and tools


         Ability to collaborate with other R&D functions


         Proven ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks


         Travel Required, 10-25%


         Experience in food and beverage industry, prefer juice and or fruit/vegetable R&D experience
