Food Science is a department in the Dale
Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and Division of
Agriculture at the University of Arkansas that serves as a primary source
of higher education, fundamental and applied research and public service.
The Department of Food Science fosters programs for achieving regional,
national and international excellence that contribute to the advancement of
knowledge and technologies, professional development and economic success
of individuals and food and food related enterprises.
Ph.D. in Food Science or Microbiology,
plus 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, a demonstrated proficiency in
molecular research methods through publications in top-flight refereed
journals is essential for this position. A strong background in molecular
biology with experience with RNA and DNA, PCR, RT-PCR, plus in-depth
expertise and experience on one of the principal food pathogens is
required. Good interpersonal skills, good oral and written communications
are required for interactions with colleagues.

Overall Purpose/Job Objective:
This position is a full-time, 12-month,
non-tenure track position with paid vacation and fringe benefits within the
Department of Food Science and the Center for Food Safety at the University
of Arkansas. Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Helping to take a successful program in Food Safety and Education to the
next level of becoming increasingly more competitive nationally.
2. Conduct screening of the genetic variation, virulence, adaptation of
food borne pathogens' survival and adaptive responses to antimicrobials.
3. Demonstrated ability to participate with a team and take leadership in
drafting nationally competitive grants.
