The Research & Development Food Technologist
will work with the product development of all the company's dry food mix
products. This position will develop items that meet market demands and
implement product development projects from our top customers.
The position requires a background in food sciences
including nutrition, culinary arts and recipe innovation. You will work
closely with sales, purchasing and operations to facilitate timely,
accurate, and cost effective product development. You will troubleshoot
and problem-solve all issues related to product development, scale up and
pilot plant trials.
- Bachelor's degree or
- Background in food sciences
including nutrition, culinary arts and recipe innovation.
- PC Skills including
Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, & Powerpoint
- Knowledge and understanding
of ingredients and their functions in formulas and food preparation.
Dry mix application experience preferred.
- Knowledge and Experience
with Genesis software or other Nutritional Labeling
- Knowledge of Nutritional
values, claims and functions of different foods and ingredients.
- Knowledge of metric weights
and standard household measurements.
- Ability and Experience with
Sensory testing, evaluation and reporting.
- Ability to convert ideas
and recipes to functional and marketable mixes at the same time
staying within certain customer requirements and cost parameters.
- Ability to create several
different recipes and applications from one mix.
Must be organized and detail oriented, proficient
in multitasking with multiple projects simultaneously. Must be cleanly
and able to maintain a sanitary and well organized work area. This person
will be responsible for managing the many details of a product from
conception to delivery, including:
- Develop formulas and
- Oversee and conduct
testing, preparing and evaluating products and formulas.
- Cataloging and rotation of
formulas, ingredients and samples.
- Interface with external
vendors to help source and cost ingredients
- Work with Project
Management, purchasing, packaging and production to create products
that work best within current capabilities and vendors wherever
- Work with existing items to
continue to improve quality and taste profiles and improve
ingredients and nutritional value as well as proper preparation
- Oversee and prepare
- Oversee and help with the
development and maintenance of formula databases.
- Do research in regards to
new and innovative ideas, recipes, products and flavor trends.
