Role-Senior Product Development Scientist
Reports to-Technology Development Manager-Wet

Location-Franklin, TN

This position provides project management and operational execution for new product development, existing product support, quality design and the synthesis of all aspects of product performance in delivering the consumer proposition. This position also keeps abreast of new technologies and global initiatives to assure the consideration and transfer of the most up to date processes, methodologies and techniques.

Key Responsibilities
• Develops innovative product design solutions to support the approved activity set
• Provides direction and framework for new product innovation
• Responsible for the application of new capabilities from both Global Technology Platforms and external sources
• Provides functional expertise in innovation management to generate differentiated and relevant new product designs
• Leads the resolution of key technical business issues for the brand / segment.
• Establishes Standards of Excellence for the team and Best in Class benchmarks to clarify design objectives
• Identifies the IP strategy for the product line
• Delivers ownable product designs through the use of IP management.
• Ensures Design Quality for the segment.
• Set the Product Quality Standards for all products within segment / brand, and collaborates with the Quality Services Manager in any product dispositions.
• Selects training activities to ensure technical competency, creativity, teamwork and broad business knowledge leading to continued managerial and technical excellence for R&D.

Minimum Qualifications
3 years of increasing leadership responsibility in product / process innovation.
3 years of team leadership experience in a Food Manufacturing Consumer Goods environment
Travel to other Mars’s sites and vendors required 15 - 40%, may include international travel

Preferred Qualifications
Food Science, engineering, chemistry or equivalent BS degree required, with a strong preference for a higher degree.
5 years of increasing leadership responsibility in product / process innovation.
5 years of team leadership experience in a Food Manufacturing Consumer Goods environment
Managing & Developing direct reports
An established demonstrable network with Research & Development leaders / organizations in academia, government and trade / industry associations.
