QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A 4 year Science or Technical degree.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of three years experience in Q.A. or Food Science or a Related Field.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety systems, GMPs, FDA, HACCP, and GFSI.
  • Excellent skills in human relations.
  • Computer skills relating to communication, word processing, databases, spreadsheets and statistical analysis (statistical process management techniques (SPC)).

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Post Graduate Microbiology, Food Science, or related technical degree.
  • Three to five years supervisory experience.
  • Experience relating to quality auditing, product formulation, and implementing process management programs, implementing quality control programs (such as GFSI & HACCP).
  • Experience with McKee Business Systems i.e. WMS, OPM, etc.
  • Quality Assurance experience in a food processing company.
  • Knowledge of company policies.
  • Understanding of quality measures, test equipment, process data and other measurement systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the BPF Quality System to maintain BPFs BRC certification.
  • Oversee the Plant HACCP program.
  • Be involved in medium to long-range plans for the QA Dept and TN Plant Technical Services as it relates to Food Safety and FDA Regulations.
  • Organize and lead the Technical Services Department through operational planning to support plant operational goals. Oversee planning and implementation of Quality Assurance Dept projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D in activities within the plant relating to quality research, quality and process improvements, ingredient quality, formulation, product specifications, packaging and finished product.
  • Develop and plan departmental budget, equipment needs, staffing needs and other requirements to maintain or improve product quality.
  • Prepare and analyze objective measurements both with other departments and within the Quality Department.
  • Interpret, communicate and relate trends in consumer complaints; work to implement improvements.
  • Assure safe, successful, day-to-day operations of the Plant Quality Dept.
  • Manage the employees and all routine activities of the department.
  • Be involved in developing performance standards for each position in the department.
  • Establish regular reviews with each employee against the standards.
