Formulator- Product Development Food Scientist

Current Needs: Currently seeking a Formulator/Food Scientist in the
Product Development department at a local company in Grand Rapids, MI, this
is a direct hire opportunity! The salary range for this position is between
$40,000-$70,000/year depending upon experience.
Job Requirements:
- The Product Development
Formulator is responsible for managing all assigned development
projects.
- The Product Development
Formulator ensures that projects move from inception through
commercialization in a timely manner.
- The projects can range from
new product innovation, current product improvement, product matching,
and ingredient evaluation to value improvement.
- The formulator must also have
an understanding of food safety, quality, allergens, the production
process, and transportation. These areas must all be accounted for
during the development process in order to engineer out possible
future issues.
- Formulator must participate
in R&D’s involvement in the following:
- Plant Scale upand initial
production
- Plant troubleshooting
- Continuous improvement
projects
- Finally, the Product
Development Formulator is responsible for maintaining a current and
innovative knowledge base of ingredient trends in the industry.
Education and experience required:
- Bachelor
of Science degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food or Dairy Science
- 5+ years
of product development experience in the food industry
- Working
knowledge of Microsoft software and computing skills.
