Director of Manufacturing (Food)

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Organizational Development - develop human capital and organizational capability through direct, objective feedback and challenging employees to excel. This will include leveraging the Company’s performance management plan (PMP) and the 4 Disciplines of Execution to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and to drive operational excellence.
  2. Profit Management Identify processing improvements and cost saving opportunities to increase the efficiency and profitability of the plant. Coordinates and recommends equipment upgrades/ enhancements to increase production uptime/ efficiency.
  3. Manufacturing Strategy – Develop operations strategy that supports long-term growth initiatives.
  4. World Class Manufacturing – Implement lean manufacturing practices and other techniques to improve quality and lower costs.

  • Strategic/Analytical Thinking: Understands plant facilities strengths & weaknesses; Analyzes the operation and makes recommendations for improvements. Synthesizes complex or diverse information to generate creative solutions to emerging problems and challenges.

  • Quality - ensure product is produced according to specifications and that GMP’s are followed.

 

  • Operational Excellence – Ensures production deadlines and budgets are achieved.

Other Responsibilities

  • Monitors safety program and results to ensure personnel are working in safe environment.
  • Reviews and approves plans for the control of production, capital and operating budgets.
  • Directs planning and operational activities to ensure capacity is optimized and inventories are aligned to ensure competitive costs and service goals are met.
  • Directs team in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in all areas of Operations.
  • Researches and establishes capital requirements to support the business needs.
  • Aligns maintenance, engineering and operations to ensure successful implementation of all new products and processes.

Required Technical Skills

  • 15+ years’ experience in the food business.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in managing operations (QA, Engineering, Operations) at a Director level or higher
  • Food Processing experience required
  • Leader in TPM, Lean and Six Sigma implementation in factory and office environments.
  • Strong skills of influence, persuasion, and business partnering.
  • Broad business acumen and end-to-end supply chain knowledge.
  • Visionary leader able to inspire and grow technical professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

  • Minimum BS degree in business, science or engineering fields.
