Food Technologist will be responsible for sensory evaluation of raw materials and finished goods. Food Technologist owns the responsibility of testing pre-shipment samples of raw materials, trending and analyzing of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory and sensory evaluation program
  • Performs manual and automated testing in accordance with SOPS
  • Maintains laboratory equipment calibration records
  • Develops and maintains appropriate testing control and quality assurance procedures; ensures compliance with current safety requirements
  • Responsible for the preparation, set-up and test processing of raw materials, finished products and retention samples
  • Enters test results into databases
  • Conducts lab activities to assist facility in Quality and R&D processes
  • Analyzes data to determine suitability of raw materials in the process
  • Correlates raw material attributes associated with finished product and retention sample attributes
  • Implements raw material and finished products sensory specifications and update them as needed
  • Provide technical support to QA/QC and production departments as required
  • Develops and maintains standards for sensory analysis
  • Performs sensory analysis of incoming raw materials
  • Sets up samples for daily sensory panel analysis of finished products and retention samples.
  • Monitors and trends sensory panel results.
  • Provides sensory analysis training on products/raw materials as required.
  • Participate and promote continuous improvement activities
  • Effectively communicate with related departments on projects and products as required
  • Conduct product shelf-life studies
  • Follow company GMP’s (good manufacturing practices) and all other quality programs
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required
  • Responsible for ensuring work area is clean and organized
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team
  • Strictly adhere to all Safety policies
  • Committed to ensuring that the products produced meet all food safety and quality requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

Qualifications:

Skills: Must have a working knowledge of MS Word software and Outlook, and be proficient with MS Excel software. Excellent math skills.

Required Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or Biology or five years experience in a food testing laboratory.
  • Systems: LEAN Manufacturing.
  • Language: Bi-lingual Spanish.
