Job Description

This vital position will ensure there is a documented process for every food safety metric in the plant to include communication, training, auditing and record keeping
• Ensure compliance to Federal, State and local regulations
§ Increase awareness and evaluation of cGMP's.
§ Create and maintain Food Safety and Quality Plans and Process/Procedures Manuals
§ Responsible for performing/assigning audits and maintaining records of results
§ Handle customer complaints; record and maintain records and resolutions
§ Responsible for raw material specs - training and adherence to standards
§ Responsible for analysis and verification of Food Safety and Quality Plans including assessment of results
§ Ensure proper labeling and traceability of products and supplies
§ Ensure all food handling areas are properly maintained for Food Safety; audit, make recommendations and follow-up for completion
§ Part of team that designs and implements Business Continuity Plan and ensure that it is updated as needed to remain current
§ Follow all Food Safety requirements and cGMPs as applicable to position
§ Other duties as assigned.

External requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Postharvest Physiology, related field or equivalent experience. SQF Certification a plus

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years in food industry, with 1-3 years in supervision, in a quality assurance lab or plant QA Department. HAACP trained and demonstrated mastery of SQF body of knowledge; if not already registered/certified through SQF (FMI) will need to study and pass certification exam within first 90 days of employment

SKILLS: Supervisory and training skills; working experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Statistical Process Control (SPC); strong analytical and problem solving skills required; knowledge of related Federal and State regulations; competency in computer word processing (MS Word), Spreadsheet (Excel) and Database Software (Access) required.

ADDITIONAL: Excellent communications skills. Bilingual in Spanish/English is desirable. Willing to have flexible work schedule. Some weekend work required. Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
