An opportunity is available at Solazyme Roquette Nutritionals to join the Applications Research and Technical Services group as we commercialize our Almagine line of food ingredients. We are seeking a Food Scientist or Sr. Food Scientist for a full time, six-month temporary position for the Solazyme Roquette Nutritionals Food Technology Lab.

The ideal candidate will bring their significant experience and boundless enthusiasm to contribute to a growing team responsible for working with customers on concept development and formulation through product evaluation and scale-up. As part of the team, the position also helps to develop and implement the strategy for the group and chart the course for this key business function.

  • Conduct formulation development program to demonstrate the functionality, optimize the sensory properties, and determine the value of SRN's ingredients in food and beverage products.
  • Develop new food and beverage product concepts around SRN's ingredient portfolio.
  • Help to coordinate the activity of critical internal and external resources.
  • Provide technical support for commercialization by preparing promotional materials as well as developing and presenting product concepts to potential partners and customers.
  • Help to establish specifications for new products in conjunction with the process development, manufacturing, and commercial teams.
  • Work collaboratively with prospective partners and customers (telephone support, bench work, on-site support, etc.) to develop opportunities for product sales.
  • Assist in the sourcing of equipment and ingredients needed for the food applications laboratory.
  • Perform other related activities necessary to achieve sales through effective applications development work.
  • Work to maximize the synergies between Solazyme, Roquette and SRN.

Requirements:

 

 

  • BS in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or similar science;
  • 5+ years of experience in food related R&D
  • Diversified and broad food product development experience from initial prototype through consumer validation to commercialization.
  • Thrives in a dynamic and challenging, entrepreneurial, multi-cultural environment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent work ethic, dedication, and team orientation.
