POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for management of specific research and development activities in support of Innovation and Renovation business projects for Frozen and Chilled prepared meals. Develop and advance expertise in strategic Food Science and Technology areas as assigned. Provide Product Development and Ingredient expertise as a member of interdisciplinary project teams. Provide technical assistance to factories as requested.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

' Manage research and development activities in support of Innovation and Renovation business projects for Frozen and Chilled prepared meals.
' Develop and advance expertise in strategic Food Science and Technology areas as assigned.
' As needed, provide the product / food technology perspective for the definition of specifications and design of processing equipment.
' Contribute to projects as a member of interdisciplinary / taskforce teams providing specific Food Technology, Ingredient and Product Development expertise.
' Keep abreast of relevant Science and Technology developments by maintaining active contacts with R&D Networks, NRC, PTC / R&D Centers, Innovation Partners, Universities and Industry.
' Plan and execute the necessary bench-top work and pilot plant trials coordinating all necessary resources internal and external and utilizing various trial, recipe and nutritional management systems.
' Support industrialization trials to scale processes from pilot plant to factory.
' Document projects and communicate their progress through R&D project management and documentation systems as well as project reviews and taskforce meetings.
' Provide Short Term Technical Assistance to factories as requested.
' Conduct all activities in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, all applicable codes and regulations and all required company policies and procedures.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The position reports directly to the Group Manager- Product Technology. The ideal candidate is expected to work on assigned projects with minimum supervision. There is the opportunity to work closely with other members of the R&D team as well as strong interactions with NRC, R&D Networks and Innovation Partners.


SUPERVISION GIVEN:

The individual does not have any direct reports except on project teams that they are leading. It is expected that they will provide guidance to the team.


FINANCIAL/STRATEGIC IMPACT:

This position is in support and service of key Nestle Brand partner's Stouffer's, Lean Cuisine, Hot Pockets, Buitoni, Tollhouse as well as other Nestle global brands.


REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
Minimum MS in Food Science & Technology or equivalent qualifications

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of experience (Senior candidates preferred) in food product/ingredient/process development (frozen and/or chilled meals). Understanding of food component interactions and working knowledge of food processing / unit
