This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Office of Management Services (OMS), Safety Management Team (SMT), located in College Park, Maryland.

Duties

Additional Duty Location Info:

 

1 vacancy - College Park, MD

 

Serve as technical advisor to the Safety Manager and senior management in all aspects relating to Bio Safety management, Blood Borne Pathogen management, Respiratory Protection and Select Agent Program.

 

Provide advice and assistance to senior management concerning the implementation of and compliance with legislative requirements for Biological Safety management, Blood Borne Pathogen management, respiratory protection and Occupational Safety and Health programs.

 

Implement a Bio safety Audit, inspection and assessment programs in accordance guidelines.

 

Communicate audit and work practice findings to management.  This audit, inspection program includes biological and chemical research operations, industrial operations and other related research activities.

 

Manage a Blood-borne Pathogens Program, Respiratory Protection Program and Select Agent Program

 

Develop and implements a comprehensive Bio-safety program (overseeing the use of biological agents and toxins and management of medical waste) designed to provide the appropriate protection and compliance for researchers, students and other employees and the local community.

Qualifications and Evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

FOR THE GS-13: You must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 or equivalent.  Specialized experience is defined as particular competencies, knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.  To include working with the Safety Officer in executing a comprehensive safety and occupational health program with specific emphasis on security, occupant emergency planning and continuity of operations planning.

 

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
