Food Science Sensory Scientist Job Description:
Position Description and
Responsibilities:
The Sensory Scientist is responsible for independently providing analysis and
summaries of sensory studies in support of the infant and children’s
business. The incumbent will design, implement, analyze, interpret and report
sensory studies, usually internal testing but at times externally with
outside suppliers. Customers will usually include R&D functions, such as
Product Development, Process Engineering, Packaging Engineering, etc. but may
also include plant and QC functions.
Studies will include but not limited to: Employee sensory testing, Expert
Panels and round tables, Can opening studies, mix abilities, scooping
studies, Mom Panels, external CLT and HUT.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
-Participate in the design and development of sensory study protocols.
-Analyze, interpret, and communicate results and recommendations.
-Participate in multi-functional team projects
Position Requirements:
BS degree in Food Science, Biology, or other science related field preferably
with some Sensory courses or background, such as working in a Sensory Lab in
college or professionally.
Expected Areas of Competence
1. Demonstrates accuracy and precision in conducting and reporting
experiments.
2. Demonstrates ability to manage time for completion of tasks to allow for
efficient and timely delivery of project objectives
3. Effectively utilizes networking relationships with others in the company
for suggestions to get work accomplished.
4. Working knowledge of SAS or other statistical program
5. Leadership, communication, and organizational skills
6. Works independently as well as within the structure of a team
