Qualifications / Skills Required
1) Degree in Food Science or certifications/degrees associated with Culinary Arts or Food Development
2) Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate and/or food manufacturing environment
3) Preferred experience with Mexican food formulation
4) Strong knowledge of consumer marketplace including food trends
5) Excellent professional food technology skills
6) Ability to work under tight deadlines and multi-task
7) Creative, innovative and adaptable
8) Self-directed and motivated
9) Efficiency in employing intermediate-level computer skills
10) Detail-oriented with precise analytical skills
11) Energetic & inspiring professional
12) Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Spanish is a plus)
13) Proficient computer skills with MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word
Partial Job Description
1) Lead in making adjustments to formula for product manufacturing at the pilot plant-level
2) Initiate production runs for achievement of all target objectives
3) Work with vendors to find new and appropriate ingredients for new products and product improvements
4) Research recipe ideas using internet, trade magazines, trade groups, research journals and industry network
5) Assist in creation of new recipes for testing new product ideas
6) Assist with Corporate Chef in creating bench top samples of new products according to cost and sensory guidelines
7) Lead sensory evaluation and testing of new products under development
8) Evaluate product ingredients and formulation
9) Provide suggestions for new products or improvements to existing products
10) Supervise test runs of new/changed products and evaluates quality, presentation and taste
11) Perform weights and measures analysis from approved recipes for manufacturing and assists with product pricing
12) Lead cuttings in lab to test new and improved products in comparison with competitor products
13) Supervise R&D projects such as shelf-life studies
