MANILA, Philippines Around 50 village chiefs from Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, were hospitalized in Palawan due to food poisoning, a radio report said today.

The report, however, said only nine out of the 50 barangay chairmen are still confined at a hospital in Puerto Princess.

The village officials were rushed to the hospital before midnight after experiencing severe stomach ache. They reportedly had dinner at a restaurant along Rizal Avenue in Puerto Princesa City before the incident.

A total of 190 village chiefs from Cabanatuan went to Palawan for an educational trip, the report added.
