Specific responsibilities for Assistant Food Scientist will include the following;

· Provide technical support for the Food Team

· Develop food formulations and manufacturing instructions for the commercial and retail food business

· Conduct processing trials and assist with initial production, start up and commercialization

· Plant trouble shooting of product and process issues

· Identify and implement product improvement and cost improvements

· Assessment of competitive products lines

· Carry out sensory, analytical and processing methods and procedures

· Conduct stability testing

· Assist with pilot plant trials

· Maintain calibrations of laboratory equipment

· Develop and maintain proper specification documentation

· Alternative raw material qualifications

· Identification of new products and processes

Qualifications

:

· BS and/or MS in Food Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

· Food Industry experience preferably in Product Development, Process Development, Process Engineering or Food Manufacturing

· Accomplished analytical and problem solving abilities

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Ability to work in a team based environment

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)

· Knowledge of quality practices (HACCP, GMPS) desirable

· Strong interest and passion for food
