About the Position: The Food Engineering Services Team, Combat Feeding Directorate, US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC), is a Customer-Driven, Customer-Focused organization. The NSRDEC is the Science Behind the Soldier. You will serve as a Food Technologist in the Food Engineering Services Team, Combat Feeding Directorate,with duties consisting of assignments of objectives, the relation of assignments to overall objectives of the team, and guidance on policy matters. Serve as a Food Technologist with responsibility in subsistence commodity area for the preparation and coordination of performance-based procurement documents and for processing Engineering Support to Procurement actions. Applies a professional knowledge of the characteristics, properties, processing methods, evaluation, and test requirements, acceptable quality levels, and packaging requirements of food products and operational rations. Work is evaluated for technical quality and timeliness of accomplishments.

General Schedule

Candidates must meet the Basic Requirement for this position.

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree in food technology, or dairy technology, microbiology, biology, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline or field of biological or physical science. The course work must have been comprised of at least 30 semester hours in the basic biological and physical sciences, and included at least 20 semester hours in food technology and closely related subjects, or 20 semester hours in subjects that can be applied directly to food technology; OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major, including the course work specified previously, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Qualified candidates for this position must show in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service that provided the knowledge of and skill in the characteristics, properties, processing methods, evaluation and test requirements, acceptable quality levels, and packaging requirements of food products and operational rations.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masterís degree OR masterís or equivalent graduate degree in one of the areas of study described above.

Education can be substituted for experience. Review the qualification requirements for specific information.

One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.

Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Career Field Position.

This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be extended up to a maximum of four years.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 10 percent.

Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized.
