Description
Position Title: Thermal
Process Technologist
Reports To: Thermal Processing Manager
Purpose of Role:
This position is
responsible and will support thermal processing activities at our wet
products site. These activities will include but are not limited to heat
penetration and temperature distribution testing, process deviation
evaluation and other thermal processing responsibilities as defined by the
Thermal Process Manager. Associate will corroborate thermal processing
activities with product development, QS and production associates in
executing experimental testing that spans existing and future packaging
formats such as pouches, tubs, cans, and custom-made containers.
Principal
Responsibilities
· Coordinate and
conduct heat penetration and temperature distribution testing at the plant
level.
· Evaluate thermal
process deviations at the site and/or escalate deviations to the thermal
processing manager for evaluation and disposition.
· Promptly
communicate thermal process deviations and dispositions to the thermal
process manager, and maintain deviation records.
· Monitor and track
retort maintenance activities and communicate changes to the thermal
processing manager.
· Communicate
thermal processing activities to production manager, retort operators and
associates.
· Responsible for
and ensuring site compliance to Mars’ Global Sterilization Standard.
· Keep inventory,
maintain and calibrate temperature measuring equipment.
· Participate in
training of site associates.
· Develop
competencies in providing quick responses to thermal processing concerns at
the floor, and/or promptly communicate thermal request from site associate to
the thermal process manager.
· Conduct routine
inspection of thermal processing activities (equipment and associates) to
ensure compliance to safety and regulatory requirements.
· Perform other
thermal processing activities as defined by the thermal process manager.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
· BS in Engineering
or Food Science and hands-on skills.
Preferred
Qualification
· BS in Engineering
· Thermal
processing exposure (heat penetration /temperature distribution testing and
evaluation). Hands-on skills, Interpretation of engineering drawing and
experimental design/statistical analysis skills.
