Ukraine: President orders prosecutors to investigate mass food poisoning of children

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has asked Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko to oversee the investigation into the mass food poisoning of children who spent their holidays in Zakarpattia region.

Children from Kyiv who spent their holidays at a sanatorium in Zakarpattia region (West Ukraine) suffered food poisoning on July 4 when they were returning home by train. A total of 76 people (69 children and seven adults) were hospitalized while travelling to Kyiv. A total of 256 people (240 children and 16 adults) left the sanatorium.
