Reports to: Director of Production Operations

Functional Summary

This position leads and has direct responsibility for the Food Safety and Quality programs for a multi-location operation. The span of control includes governmental food safety/quality regulatory compliance, company quality compliance, continuous improvement processes, program design, implementation, and ongoing program management, audit/inspection programs, and industry best practices programs. The Quality and Food Safety Manager provides deliverables by processing strong leadership and management skills. As a key position to the continued success of the company, this position acts as the champion for food safety and quality motivating, educating, and training cross-functional personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelorís degree (B. A.) in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field.

5+ years in food processing; in manufacturing management capacity; facilitating food safety initiatives

HACCP Certified preferred

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to prioritize issues, takes action, follow through and focus on delivering results.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to use Spreadsheet and Word Processing software as well as Statistical Process Control and Asset Management as it relates to Preventative Maintenance.

Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration.

Note: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
