Food Safety Program Administrator - DFA of California Summary Under
general supervision of the Food Safety Director with a wide range of
independent responsibility manages the operational and business activities of
the Food Safety programs. Assists Food Safety Managers in formulating and
administering organization policies by performing the following duties
personally or through subordinate personnel. Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities ·
Manages and coordinates the daily administration of food
safety programs and services. ·
Manages and coordinates activities in area off responsibility
to fulfill established goals and objectives ensuring adherence to the
organization’s Food Safety programs policies, procedures and regulations. ·
Assures the successful execution of assigned programs through
scheduling and detailed tracking methods. ·
Program
administrator for the various food safety platforms, (HACCP, BRC, SQF etc.). ·
Provide
analytical and administrative support to the Director of Food Safety and the
Food Safety Manager. ·
Ability
to review written audit reports and to interpret
and communicate the results of food safety audits to customers. ·
Confers with Chief Executive Officer and other administrative
personnel to review achievements of goals and objectives. ·
Coordinates scheduling of unannounced food safety audits of
member facilities to ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing
Practices. ·
Promotes and schedules third party audits (i.e. HACCP, SQF and
BRC) and associated training and meetings. ·
Maintains relevant working knowledge of social, political,
economic and technological developments in the industry and serves as the
liaison in areas of established responsibilities. ·
Provides technical support to customers with regards to food
safety. ·
Assists customers in ensuring all GMP and Food Safety
Standards are in compliance; USDA, FDA, Pest Control etc. ·
Compile
and analyze operational information, generate reports, create correspondence,
maintain supplies and other duties as assigned from time to time ·
Coordinate
activities within the department, route and coordinate information to
appropriate individual or group. ·
Ensure
clients and employees are handled in a professional and courteous manner. ·
Assist food safety team in ensuring all GMP and Food
Safety Standards are in compliance; USDA, FDA, HACCP, Pest Control etc. ·
Review / proof / develop program documents and audit
reports for distribute to customers. ·
Thorough understanding of conducting third party
(HACCP, FPA, Food Safety) audits and associated training. ·
Assist in development and implement Quality/food safety
and food security operating policies. ·
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all areas
related to the food industry (i.e. raw materials, packaging materials,
finished products etc.). Education &
Experience ·
B.S. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related field
and/or equivalent. ·
Minimum of five years of work experience in food handling,
processing, manufacturing and distribution business. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE ·
Certification / training in HACCP, SQF and BRC
highly desired. ·
Certified Quality Auditor training a plus. ·
Quality Assurance and Control experience. ·
Knowledge of FDA Food Code and California Food Code. ·
Prior experience as federal or state food safety
investigator highly valued. ·
Working knowledge of the 21 CFR, Section 110, GSFI
and HACCP standards. ·
Ability to analyze and resolve problems. ·
Ability to work independently and within a team
environment. ·
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential
information. ·
Ability to work with internal and external clients. ·
Strong organizational and time management skills. ·
Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing
work environment. ·
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written
and verbal) skills and attention
to detail. ·
Strong proficiency in office toolsets and data bases
required (MS-Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro), an ability to research information on
the internet. |
