Control/Quality Assurance, Regulatory Compliance Job Description We are seeking a Director of Food Safety for a well known and
established quality meat snack producer.This position will be based in VA,
however consideration can be place on IN and MN.This position will be
responsible for developing and executing broad quality and food safety policies
and process across 3 meat processing plants. On a tactical level this
position will focus on opportunities to improve quality, enhance food safety
and reduce costs. From a strategic perspective we believe this company can
leverage world class quality and food safety as a strategic advantage not
easily matched by its competition. Specific Responsibilities: ?
Understand current quality and food safety practices and procedures. Assess
and evaluate existing and proposed quality and risk mitigation on a plant by
plant basis. ?
Take a lead role and work closely with operations and technical services on
specific quality and food safety related activities. ?
Develop and cultivate constructive relationships with relevant government
agencies such as the USDA. ?
Develop and submit annual budgets for quality and food safety initiatives.
Experience and Skills: The successful candidate will have a technical
background and education in food science, ideal candidates will have a
master’s degree in a relevant discipline. He/ she will have a minimum of 10
to 15 years in the quality and food safety functions within the food
industry. Ideal candidates will have specific experience in the ready to eat
meat processing industry. All candidates must have established relationships
with the USDA and other relevant regulatory agencies. Leadership
Competencies: The successful candidate will be a hands on change leader with
a high energy level and strong leadership skills. However he/she is also
flexible and team oriented. Requirement:
BA/BS in science related field. Microbiology, Food Science or Chemistry
