Premium Pet Health, a member of the John Morrell Food Group, has a Quality Assurance Manager position available in Denver, CO.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing technical and developmental leadership for all aspects of Quality Services, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Sanitation and Food Safety. Partnering with Sales, R&D, Supply Chain and Operations management teams, the incumbent ensures and shares accountability for the safety, quality and regulation of all products produced, through the management of HACCP plans, SOPs, Labeling, Regulatory and Laboratory services. The position span of control includes all facilities and locations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Quality and Technical Services professionals
  • Train employees at all levels on the quality system and set expectations of involvement and contribution to achieve a World Class Program
  • Be the Quality and Technical Services face to the customer and partner with operations to set timetables in developing corrective and preventive actions plans as needed for customer improvement opportunities
  • Serve as a change agent proposing cost improvements, food safety improvements, and quality improvements
  • Maintain measurement systems, process control programs and auditing processes, as tools to verify that customer expectations are being met
  • Report on CTQ metrics and as needed to all levels of the organization as well as reporting on execution of corrective and preventive measures
  • Manage Pest Control and Sanitation relationships and contracts to ensure adequacy and coverage
  • Ensure 3rd Party audits are conducted and corrective actions are taken as well as reported with prescribed timelines
  • Develop and implement work instructions and standard operating procedures to ensure all CTQ processes are being monitored and measured including but not limited to lot tracking and product holds.
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Required Skills


Education and Experience Requirements:


  • B.S. in Food Science, Meat Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience of food safety and quality program management and managing a quality team.


  • M.S. in Food Science, Meat Science or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in food processing or manufacturing.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • HACCP certification required
  • Lean Six Sigma Green and/or Black Belt certification preferred

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, lean thinking and statistical process control skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong planning, organizational, attention to detail and task follow up skills
  • Strong computer skills utilizing MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
