SCOPE OF POSITION:
An Associate Food Scientist performs product development work with
supervision to meet project objectives. May be asked to perform multiple,
simultaneous projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Executes tests using recognized procedures
• Learns and utilizes the online specification system
• Maintains accurate and complete records, analyzes reports
• Obtains a working knowledge of plant processes and facilities
• Provides onsite monitoring and technical assistance to operations when
testing/manufacturing new products
• Follow directions of the supervisor, asking pertinent questions to
provide a learning experience
• Travel required
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, this executive must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Demonstrated technical competence
• Demonstrated motivated self-confidence and creative problem solving
skills
• Possesses minimum required technical communication skills
• Exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment
• Ability to operate equipment after receiving training and physically lift
up to 60 pounds on a limited basis
EDUCATION:
• A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in food science or similar
discipline.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum one to two years food product development experience is required
SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:
• Basic understanding of
the sciences, with a basic knowledge and understanding of food recipes
• Ability to interact with others in manufacturing, lab and office
environment
• Good time management skills
• Computer skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint
