Food Scientist San Antonio, TX

Salary: $60K - $65K Bonus 15-20%
Location: San Antonio, TX

Job Description:

  • Research, conduct experiments, gather data, develop preliminary findings and prepare written reports for the development of new products from conception through successful commercialization
  • Select appropriate methods, tests and procedures for testing
  • Develop project timelines, create technical proposals and reports
  • Conduct plant trials and new product start-ups; work closely with customers and suppliers in the development of new products
  • Develop finished product and processing specifications


  • MS - Food Science, Cereal Science or Food Chemistry and 3-5 years hands-on experience in the development process   --OR-- PhD and 1+ year experience in the food industry
  • 3-5 years experience working cross-functionally with R&D, QA, marketing, culinary and production
  • Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and bakery products/processing
  • Experience taking new products from concept through to test and final implementation
  • Excellent project management, communication and presentation skills
  • 3+ years innovative bench top product and program development experience and capabilities
  • Knowledge of current theories/practice of moisture management
  • Knowledge of FDA and FTC regulations
  • Background in food chemistry specific to ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions
  • Nutritional or nutritional products background a plus
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and the use of Statistics
