Kellogg Company has an exciting new opportunity for a Food Safety Specialist in Muncy, PA. This role encompasses responsibility within the plant for all food safety related policies, programs and procedures as well as assists in the development, continuous improvement, implementation and adherence to the facilities HACCP and prerequisite programs

Additional responsibilities may include:
1.Assist the Quality and Food Safety Manager in leading a cross functional team for development, implementation and sustainability of the Plant HACCP plan and prerequisite programs.

2.Assure raw and packaging materials and finished goods meet Company specifications and standards per the HACCP plan.

3.Champion process improvements and resolution of food safety issues. Provide technical and statistical support. Analyze product and process data for opportunities for improvement. Conduct food safety meetings for communication and resolving of issues. Communicate corporate, customer, and consumer food safety concerns to appropriate plant personnel for resolution.

4.Ensure compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and standards issued by regulatory agencies. Manage and audit HACCP program. Participate in and coordinate internal FDA, PA Department of Agriculture and SQF inspections.

Ensure compliance to Kellogg corporate food safety policies, procedures and applicable standards.

5.Collect samples for monitoring environmental pathogenic micro-organisms in plant. Manage environmental root cause analysis and corrective action program.

Conduct and document clean up inspections and validations using swabs and/or samples collected for analysis.

6.Assist in coordination of capital spending for food safety projects.

7.Exhibit leadership and strong ethical behavior to address food safety risks immediately and to stop production if necessary.

8.Have primary responsibility for execution of food safety training programs, monitoring effectiveness, retention and knowledge application.

9.Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

BS degree in food science or food safety is required.
BS degree in microbiology or equivalent with experience in food manufacturing is required.

Candidate preferred qualifications:

Previous HACCP certification program design and implementation

Previous SQF 2000, Level 2 certification

Experience managing quality and/or food safety programs in food processing

Experience working in an unionized environment

Experience in managing processes

Computer software skills to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
