POSITION: Food Technologist
SALARY RANGE: 50-60K
DEGREE: 4 - Year Degree
LOCATION: Western Michigan - Grand Rapids
" Minimum of B.S. in Food Science/Food Technology or related field
" Computer proficiency
" Helpful to have previous work experience in production, research
and development or quality
I. Job Summary
This position requires a person with practical and technical skills in
new product and process development for all food products with an
emphasis on meat science and other consumer goods food products. Must
have the ability to integrate their technical strengths with creativity
in new product development. Also must have a keen interest in all-new
processing technologies, and how to adapt these technologies to products
and processes. Requires the ability to direct and handle multiple tasks
at one time. Requires the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances
and the ability to resolve conflict with minimal assistance. This
position will facilitate new product start ups in a plant environment,
and will be directly involved with new product and process innovation in
a pilot plant
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
" Focused on total external and internal customer satisfaction.
" Perform the daily projects assigned by R&D management.
" Keep accurate, scientific records on all tests that are being
performed and draw scientific conclusions.
" Ensure all department requirements, GMP's, HACCP requirements and
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are met.
" Actively participate in the research, justification, and
implementation of new products and processes.
" Be a self-motivated, decisive decision maker and effective team
player with excellent communication skills.
" Work with all levels of management and associates to lead project
" Solid trouble-shooting skills
