Description Responsible for the development of new products, existing product optimization, and the commercialization and implementation of these in a manufacturing environment. The position directs daily operations of these projects as directed by the VP of Technical Services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. § Demonstrates the ability to development new products and source ingredients with minimal direction from management. § Organize and lead project presentations to upper management. § Participates in troubleshooting, process control, and improvement efforts and engages others to resolve problems in a proactive manner to ensure sustainable improvements of existing products. § Coordinates efforts with other department managers, particularly the QA Manager and the Plant Manager, to ensure that all new products and ingredients conform to all quality systems and current manufacturing processes. § Maintain all product development procedures in accordance to company policy and industry standards and government regulations. § Ensure efficient, timely, and accurate testing procedures and proper record keeping and reporting of results. § Working knowledge of ingredient and nutritional labeling using Genesis software program. § Manages labor and other expenses to meet budget. • Carries out responsibilities with professionalism, respect for others, in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements Knowledge/Skills: § Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP systems. Genesis label and nutrition software. Knowledge of functional ingredients. Required: § BS in Food Science or related science field (Food Microbiology, Meat Science…etc). § 0 – 3 years experience in Food Science preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Frozen food, baking, and batter & breading knowledge would be a plus. § 0 – 3 Years Food Industry Experience Preferred: § 1 – 2 years as a product development scientist in a large food company. § Knowledge of frozen battered and breaded products a plus. § Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) Talents: § Self-Directed § Competitive § Develops others/recruiter § Analytical/systems approach to problem solving § Relationship Extension Other: • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. • Occasional bending, reaching, climbing. • Moderate to Heavy Work: lifting a max of 50 lbs.
