We are currently recruiting for the following opportunity:

Staff Scientist - SLS

 

This position is responsible for providing technical support to the Food and Beverage market. The selected person will be responsible for providing customer interactions, technical solutions, professional seminars, poster presentations, publications, tutorials and technical sales training, and expert advise on product usage and applicability.

Responsibilities:

·Project management - Take a leading role in the development and execution of technical support and technical market position plans, focusing efforts on filtration in breweries and other applications as appropriate for the Food and Beverage market. Manage projects in support of customers, both internal and external, to maintain and develop new business opportunities. Manage projects in support of new product development, working closely with R&D. Develop Technical Marketing Positions to plan for technology and product future needs. Will work with outside organizations (universities, consortia, select customer R&D groups) to maintain knowledge edge in the field.

·Training - The Staff Scientist will be trained on SLS procedures, food and beverage products, and more specifically on filtration products for breweries. This training should take two to three months, including training on specifics of product manufacturing and R&D development efforts. Further training will be ongoing.

·Marketing - The Staff Scientist will work closely with marketing and sales to develop training modules, and technical marketing positions.

·Presentations - Present professional seminars, poster presentations, tutorials and technical seminars, sales and customer training, as well as provide expert advice on related technical questions and product complaints.

·Writing - Write and submit for review, Scientific and Technical Reports, SLS reports, trip reports, and outside publications based on data produced from in-house and outside collaborations.

·Travel - Support marketing and sales efforts by on-site visits to customers and conferences (15 - 25% +)

Additional specific responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with manufacturing QC/QA on COR internal investigations and CAPA activities to produce quality improvements to the customer

2. Support CFS and PROFi optimization for customer:

Work together with service and Pall global technical resources to drive improvements and identify system issues at customer facilities

Close communication and cooperation with customer corporate brewing to improve system performance and resolve issues

Site visits to breweries to coordinate system improvements at brewery level and identify opportunities

Tracking and communication of system performance to Pall sales and to customer.

Support new products/pilot trials

Assist in creation of pilot plans

Define and document success criteria of piloting

3. Communicate issues and new opportunities within customer to sales

Constant communication to sales on new sales opportunities and issue resolution

4. Identify CFS/PROFi best practices both within customer and within Pall and share with both organizations

5. Develop collaborative technical relationships with customer brew masters and process leads

(note: Piloting will be coordinated and managed by piloting group.)

 

Required Skills

Skills/Knowledge:

Expertise in brewery processes, including filtration and troubleshooting. This expertise may be from specific graduate studies, work experience, or a combination of these.

·Delivering presentations to large audiences (e.g. educational/commercial seminars, tutorials and organizations)

·Writing reports, texts, and publications in internal and external publications (e.g. journals, trade magazines, research reports)

·Work independently with established goals, on multiple complex projects

Required Experience

1 - 5 + years & Ph.D. Food Science or Microbiology or 5+ years & B.S. or M.S. with specific related work experience and acknowledged recognition in field
