Position Description




  • Implements and measures strategic programs for quality assurance and food safety that insure the business achieves, sustains and continuously improves world-class programs for food quality and food safety for all concepts.
  • Business scope for assigned food categories.
  • Strategic focus.




- Creates and documents product specifications, which include Critical to Quality attributes


- Implements/manages third party audit program for suppliers and distributors depending on assigned function


- Investigates and resolves product problems


- Initiates product withdrawals and product recalls with distribution, operations and suppliers


- Determines trends and on-going issues with suppliers and assists suppliers in defining quality and process oriented continuous improvements projects


- Conducts regular product evaluations with food preparation staff and Strategic Sourcing management


- Provides technical support to R&D and Sourcing Operations throughout the product life cycle


- Monitors industry issues and communicates to team concerns or trends that may affect the quality or supply of products or commodities


- Insures supplier/distributor partners are utilizing HACCP, FDA and USDA guidelines



  • Food Safety Responsibilities:


- Monitors Federal, State regulatory food safety issues; communicates modifications and changes to the field


- Maintains and updates Carlson Food Safety Standards


- Partners with operations to determine Food Safety initiatives


- Reviews all food preparation procedures and training materials for adherence to current industry food safety best practices, Food Codes recommendations and Carlson standards


Manages HACCP plans and ensures all new recipes and equipment meet HACCP requirements

Position Requirements






  • Bachelor Degree, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Food Science, Public Health, Procurement or related area
  • MBA preferred
  • 5 plus years of experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food manufacturing, quality systems, USDA/FDA regulations, FDA food code, local and state public health codes, recall procedures, Business
