Title: Quality Technician

The QA Technician reports to the Chief Quality Scientist and is responsible for testing and inspection of products and processes at various points in the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to company quality standards. The technician is also responsible for establishing and executing the disposition of products that do not meet company quality standards. Lead analytical testing of product and raw materials used for or during manufacture to assure they meet company standards. Some tests include: color, particle size, fat, moisture content, viscosity, pH, count per pound, free fatty acid and peroxide value, flavor, etc. Conduct Quality Audits of lines to ensure product being produced meets established quality standards. Monitor electronic weight and attribute system to ensure compliance to company weight and quality standards. Communicate deviations to the appropriate department for corrective action. Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability. Assess the quality of sensitive incoming materials to make sure they meet standards. Evaluate current testing protocols and recommend improvements. Evaluate incoming material Certificate of Analysis (COA) against the current company specifications. Validate COA through either internal or outside lab testing of product according to specified audit frequency. Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for customers upon requests.

Skills Required:
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong tasting skills, ability to differentiate different flavors/off notes and describe by verbal or written means.
Strong math skills
Analytical skills
Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and Quality systems.
B.S. Food Science or closely related field.

Physical Demands:
Standing 65% of the time
Climbing 10% of the time
Seated 20% of the time
Works on computer 25% of the time
Work in laboratory with equipment and machinery
High noise environment
A willingness to work weekend hours, overtime and any of the three shifts required.
