Organic Food & Product Certification Reviewer San Diego, CA

We are seeking a reviewer for our QAI - Quality Assurance International team at our San Diego, CA location to complete application and level one reviews based on regulatory standards.

Principal Accountabilities: Complete established review forms (application and level one) based on regulatory standards and QAI policies in accordance with training and documented guidelines.

Assure that customer application, compliance plans and related inspection reports contain required descriptions, protocols, procedures, records and ensure record keeping systems are in place and comply with regulatory requirements

Complete level one reviews. Review client documentation and inspection reports, for non-compliance points which require client corrective actions necessary for clients to meet organic standards and other standards as applicable.

Make certification recommendations based on review of documentation, non-conformities and corrective actions

Contact clients to review findings and outstanding issues, clarifying any technical and regulatory requirements and issues.

Provide technical support to customer service representatives on organic and other applicable standards.

Serve as back up to account coordinator(s) when necessary

Recommend and/or determine acceptance or rejection of client corrective actions.

Determine if each item submitted for certification meets product and label composition for regulatory requirements.

Draft certificates, non-compliance letters, product summaries, and other certification documents as directed

Update forms and procedures to maintain efficient workflow, as needed.

Evaluate performance of inspectors and provide feedback to the Inspection department lead.

Participate in regular reviewer meetings and make continuous improvement recommendations.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in agriculture, food science, animal science or related area of study.

A minimum of one-year experience and working knowledge with National Organic Program (NOP) standards and regulations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts

Familiar with QAI procedures being applied, knowledgeable regarding all applicable standards and regulations, familiar with organic and conventional crop, livestock, processing, or handling procedures and methods.

Successful completion of IOIA training program or equivalent training as determined by the general manager.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.

Demonstrated project and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: IOIA Accreditation and advanced training

Five years of experience as an inspector
