Food Safety Coordinator

Position Location:

Argo Plant – Bedford Park, IL

Primary Function

To support the continuous maintenance of the facility Food Safety Management System to meet the requirements of FSSC 22000.

Reports To:

Food Safety Team Lead

Supervision:

None

Key Deliverables

Critical Deliverables

Business

·         Coordinate and lead the activities and work of the HACCP team(s) in the development of the HACCP programs in a timely and effective manner.

·         Act as the team’s primary contact person for the Food Safety Team Lead for progress reports and issue resolution.

·         Coordinate and submit team schedules, reports, and other necessary documentation required from the team.

·         Coordinate and lead the HACCP team in evaluation of HACCP programs at planned intervals.

·         Verify the hazard analysis and the adequacy of the established prerequisite programs.

·         Verify the effective implementation of relevant Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs).

Agility and Innovation

·         Maintains a current knowledge of the seven principles of HACCP within FSSC 22000.

·         Knowledgeable of food cGMP’s as it pertains to prerequisite program functionality and application within FSSC 22000.

·         Maintains a current knowledge of the requirements of the GFSI.

Relationships

and People

·         Foster team and individual growth through identification of training requirements, coaching, and mentoring.

·         Works with units to verify PRPs and oPRPs and issue CAPAs where necessary.

Knowledge, Skills,

and Requirements:

·         Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry or related sciences.

·         Maintains current knowledge of the food safety within FSSC 22000 and customer/regulatory requirements.

·         Demonstrated proficiency in effectively managing relationships.

·         Familiar with the CWM process and experience working in a plant environment would be plus.

·         Other duties as required.
