This Position is located in Department of Health and Human Services

(DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of the

Commissioner (OC), Office of Operations (OO), Office of Food

Protection (OFP), Rockville, MD.

Major Duties:

If selected for this position, you will:

 

- Manage and coordinate the development and implementation of major

health promotion initiatives as they relate to the mission to

protect America's food supply.

 

- Lead and participate with other officials in managing, organizing,

and overseeing the development of policy initiatives to include, but

are not limited to, the implementation of new policies and

procedures, the development of a tracking system and progress

reports, and the development of Agency guidances and other policy

documents.

 

- Research, analyze, and recommend new or revised Agency policies

and procedures. Compare and contrast current and future policies to

formulate appropriate strategies for addressing problems, to develop

timetables for prompt action, and to implement efficient and

effective follow-up mechanisms.

 

- Provide consultation and expert advice on policy issues in the

area of study to various agencies, foreign governments,

international organizations, and FDA. Prepare reports on policy

issues for both internal and external consumption, as appropriate.

 

- Serve as recognized expert on activities that support the Agency's

new food safety initiative: The Food Protection Plan.  Serve as a

member onCenter or Agency task forces, committees, and study groups

tasked to consider problems or provide direction in the area of food

protection.

 

- Develop, publicize, and garner support for the program agenda by

sharing and promoting food protection initiatives with the

Agency's senior staff including the Commissioner of Food and Drugs.



Qualifications:

GS-15:

 

You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has

equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to

perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is

typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To

be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to

at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government.

Basic Requirements: Degree: major study in an academic field related

to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of

the position.

 

Foreign Degree Note: All foreign degrees must be evaluated by a

nationally recognized Accrediting Agency.  You must submit proof of

such evaluation and/or conversion by the closing date of this

announcement.
