Senior Manager, Food Safety & Quality
– Chicago, IL
Position will report into Downers Grove/Chicago. The senior
manager will assist in design, implementation, and compliance with Sara Lee
food safety and quality requirements for our Suppliers and
Co-Manufacturers. Provides technical support to suppliers and
Co-Manufacturers on food safety and quality issue resolution and corrective
actions. Works with supply chain, R&D, and other internal customers to
assure compliance with food safety and quality requirements of suppliers.
Technically interprets third party audit and SLC food safety and quality
expectations audit and approval system for Suppliers and Copackers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, manage
and audit food safety and quality requirements for Suppliers and
- Develop and implement
technical plans, clearly defining the critical issues and approach to
be used in resolving food safety and quality issues. Follow up with
Suppliers and Co-Manufacturers to assure compliance to resolution.
- Assure Co-Manufactured
products adhere to specification requirement through effective
communication of product audit results and follow-up to corrective
- Partner with Co-Manufacturers
and Suppliers to evaluate complaints and develop actions plans to
assure corrective actions and reduction of complaints
- Develop and manage food
safety and quality auditing system using Hillshire Brands and third
Supplier/Co-Manufacturer food safety and quality approval process for
consistency across all lines of business.
- Determine approval status for
Co-Manufacturers and Suppliers, based on requirements of the Hillshire
Brands food safety and quality approval policies and processes.
- Design, implement, and manage
programs, databases, and/or policies to track and determine a preferred
supplier program based on performance and management of risks.
- Work with R&D and Supply
Chain on key food safety and quality requirements for suppliers and
- Define food safety and
quality testing testing requirements and
compliance guidelines for Suppliers and Co-Manufacturers.
- Develop and present
persuasive presentations to senior management on recommendations.
- Integrate with Procurement to
assist in the process with the selection of potential suppliers and
- Provide food safety and
quality expertise to the Innovation project teams and determine food
safety and quality requirements and recommendations.
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in food safety related field.
- Minimum five years experience with USDA and/or FDA products in
a food safety and quality functional role
- Minimum of two to three years experience in development, training and
auditing of HACCP plans, sanitation programs, regulatory compliance,
specification adherence, and various other food safety & quality
programs with Suppliers and/or Co-Manufacturers
- HACCP Certified required.
- SQFand/or BRC
- Effective written and verbal
communication skills with internal customers and supply management
