Job Description

Essential Functions:

     On-site audits of raw material suppliers, packaging suppliers, and third party distributers to ensure the compliance with corporate standards, procedures, and policies.

     Provide technical assistance and act as liaison to our suppliers regarding QA, Food Safety, and Sanitation programs. Effectively communicate Optimumís expectations to suppliers.

     Monitor and ensure that audit program meets requirements as defined by the supplier quality system. Follow-up on noncompliance findings from audits with suppliers.

     Summarize audit results appropriately for each group: Supplier Quality Team; QA management; QA supplier and receiving groups; purchasing department; and innovation department.

     Assist with Optimum internal audit programs, including systems audits and GMP audits.

     Manage special projects to improve Optimum QA systems as assigned.

     Assist with completion of other QA requirements as assigned, including but not limited to: Developing QA SOPs and /or programs; ensuring conformance to regulatory requirements and best practices of QA or other departmentís SOPs; and training of QC technicians or other appropriate individuals.

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

     Advanced knowledge of GMP/HACCP/FDA CGMPís regulations.

o     Must be willing to travel. Average travel up to 30% of the time, but may exceed 50% during some months.

o     Familiar and competent with the audit process.

o     Must possess an in-depth understanding of food safety concerns and how they can be controlled by GMPs, HACCP, pre-requisite programs, and other quality control and quality assurance functions. This includes biological, physical, and chemical contaminants and hazards.

o     Strong analytical ability.

o     Attention to detail.

o     Proficiency with computers, including MS Office programs, and ability to learn other programs as required, including SAP.

Required Experience

Education/Experience:

     Bachelorís Degree in Food Science or science related field.

     At least 3 years experience in food manufacturing environment in quality or food safety role. Preferably in a role with significant responsibility.

     At least 3 years supervisory experience preferred.

     Appropriate recent third party training and certification in HACCP, GMPs, SQF / GFSI / ISO, FDA food and/or supplement regulations. EU regulations, and/or auditing is preferred.
