Job Description :

POSITION SUMMARY

Shall manage all Good Manufacturing, Food Safety and Quality issues within the plant, shall manage the QC Department and personnel and shall insure the production of the highest quality products possible in a Food Safe Environment.

Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES / MAJOR DUTIES

Responsibilities and accountabilities include, but not limited to:

• Shall communicate with all plant management, quality control staff and Corporate Technical Service Director concerning all pertinent Food Safety and Quality issues.

• Maintain a monthly recap of all documented GMP violations and corrective actions taken. Submission of the completed recap reports to the Technical Service Director no later than the 5th day of the next month.

• Shall communicate to the Technical Service Director whenever a regulatory inspector or outside customer inspector arrives at the plant.  Report results of all inspections upon completion.

• Responsible to maintain a foreign material log to include all foreign materials, specific location where the item was located, date and time; in addition to specific metal detector information and particles.

• Responsible for the communication and implementation of Corporate Good Manufacturing Policies and Guidelines. To include documentation of yearly employee GMP, HACCP training and bi-annual mock recalls with timely, 98+% tracking results

• Responsible for the communication and implementation of all Corporate Quality Policies.  Ensure the recordkeeping and retension of Ingredient statements, MSDS, HACCP, Kosher and Allergen documents, and Foreign Materials.

• Shall maintain Quality Manual as outlined in the 2001 AIB Consolidated Standards for Food Safety.  Conduct employee training as needed.

• Responsible for outside service/vendor compliance of all Corporate Quality Policies, GMP’s and AIB Standards.

• Ensure facility compliance of all Corporate Quality Policies and AIB Standards of all plant departments by monitoring and spot-checking – logs, records, etc.  Coordinate and verify GMP Food Safety Self Inspection Audits are completed each period and results distributed to all departments.

• Responsible for Daily Product Cuttings and record keeping on all shifts and results communicated to plant management team. Ensure disposition of “Hold” & “Release” product is authorized in accordance with Corporate Quality Policies and Procedures.

• Shall communicate all microbiological issues and all contamination in accordance with Corporate Quality Policies.  Responsible for product shipping dates to correspond with microbiological results.

• Coordinate product samples that are sent to outside testing facilities and the correct disposition of the sampled products using the outside test results.

• Shall maintain cleanliness of work area.

• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).

• Shall perform other duties as directed by supervision.

• Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

LICENSE-
None required

MOBILITY-
Shall have the ability to move to all administrative areas of the office and plant as relates to Food Safety and Quality issues.

SENSORY-
Shall have the ability to view written documents and computer communication systems.

COMMUNICATION-
Shall have the ability to generate written communication, operate computer keyboard, and operate 10 key calculator and other required office equipment.

Shall have the ability to read and review written communication.
 
Shall have speech and hearing abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English (in person and via telephone) and/or other language, if required

OTHER- 
Shall have the ability to retrieve and replace related materials.

Shall have the ability to manage laboratory testing for all areas of the plant.
 
Shall have the ability to comprehend laboratory results and determine the correct course of action as related to these results. Inform others of results and recommendations as needed.

Shall have the ability to research, ascertain and monitor required policies and procedures.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE  

Shall have 5+ years of plant quality assurance / control experience in the food industry -including 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
 
Shall have working knowledge of PC computers. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and SAP a real plus.

DESIRED EDUCATION

Shall have minimum B.S. Food Science, Food Technology, Cereal Chemistry, Chemistry, or related discipline.
