Job Description: Generate food shelf life and storage
insights to drive key product and packaging decisions for business teams.
Identify optimum project approach using consultation, scientific data,
research, and mathematical modeling. Design and manage storage test
strategies for knowledge discovery.
Accountabilities:
Lead Platform Storage Quality efforts to ensure understanding of consumer
end-use quality by business teams. Collaborate with internal technical
partners including Analytical physical testing, Microbiology, Product and
Packaging R&D, Technical Services, Sensory Scientists/Engineers, plus
external partners.
Work directly with internal customers and business teams including Shared
Services, R&D, Quality, Marketing, Consumer
Insights and external partners to lead and execute projects.
Consult, design, and manage storage studies to meet business needs and
enhance product foundational knowledge.
Create, modify, and apply predictive models to address business needs.
Interpret test results in context of project objectives and foundational
learning in terms of product key attributes, quality measures, and consumer
expectations.
Communicate insights to clients/project teams and recommend next steps.
Develop platform specific foundational knowledge based on project results
and disseminate to pertinent teams.
Advocate for the application of product foundational knowledge and brand
protection for product development teams.
Train R&D, Packaging and QRO on storage quality theory and best
practices.
Lead food stability, shelf life and storage strategy development and
implementation.
Thoroughly understand key product attribute targets and ranges and the
application to product specifications for implementation in plant
performance and management tracking systems (MQIS). Communicate product
variation insights and findings to clients/project teams and recommends
next steps.
Maintains professional growth in the field.

Requirements
MS degree in Food Science and Technology or Chemistry; or BS degree in
Chemical Engineering, Packaging, or Material Science.
Minimum 3 years experience with food science,
material science, and/or chemistry.
Preferred experience focusing on chemistry and mechanisms relating to
ingredient/material and environmental condition interrelationships that
influence the storage quality of food products.
Strong problem solving skills.
Strong applied math skills; including regression methods, design of
experiments, and multivariate analysis techniques.
Experience designing statistical experiments, and demonstrated ability to
communicate insights derived from technical data to business project teams.
LIMS software knowledge preferred.
Ability to apply pertinent information from broad range of disciplines,
including Food Chemistry, Food Physical Chemistry, Food Engineering,
Microbiology, Sensory Science, and Statistics.
Must be able to interact effectively with internal R&D clients and
business unit project teams.
Strong influence skills to effectively interpret and communicate product
insights; excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal
effectiveness.
Ability to leverage and collaborate with other technical resources and
leverage existing foundational data (Labware) to
effectively lead multiple projects.
Strong prioritization skills.
