About the Position: About the Position: The Combat Feeding Directorate, Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC), is a Customer-Driven, Customer-Focused organization. The NSRDEC is the Science Behind the Soldier. Through our research, development, engineering and technology transfer of products and systems (such as clothing and individual soldier equipment, rations and field feeding equipment, personnel and cargo airdrop systems, and shelters), the NSRDEC plays a vital role to maximize the effectiveness of America's military. Major Duties:
Serves in an advanced trainee level capacity as a Food Technologist. Performs duties characteristic of the specific occupational series also shown above, accomplishing a variety of developmental duties in support of the overall work of the organization. Assignments are selected to broaden skills and provide practical experience for progressively more complex assignments, as prescribed in the Master Intern Training Plan. You will perform professional or technical duties such as: designs equipment, structures, or systems using established criteria or specifications; tests material, equipment, or systems for compliance with specifications or for evaluation in terms of operational use; reviews technical aspects of applications, designs, or proposed plans for compliance with laws, regulations, standards, specifications, or other requirements and criteria.
Qualifications:

  THIS POSITION HAS A MANDATORY EDUCATION REQUIREMENT A) Degree: food technology, or dairy technology, microbiology, biology, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline or field of biological or physical science. The course work must have been comprised of at least 30 semester hours in the basic biological and physical sciences, and included at least 20 semester hours in food technology and closely related subjects, or 20 semester hours in subjects that can be applied directly to food technology. OR B) Combination of education and experience--courses equivalent to a major, including the course work specified, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Qualified candidates for this job must show in their resume that they possess one year of specialized experience that provided the knowledge of and skill in the characteristics, properties, processing methods, evaluation, test requirements, acceptable quality levels, and packaging requirements of food products and operational rations. This specialized experience should be equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level.

  This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level I in Acquisition Career Field Systems Planning, Research Development, and Engineering within 24 months of entrance on duty.

  Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

  One year trial/probationary period may be required.
