Quaker has created a new cross functional team to
focus on New Business Development, the scope of which extends beyond
Quaker's current core product areas (i.e. Hots,
RTE, Snack Bars, Cookies, Lite Snacks, Aunt Jemima, Golden Grain) in
order to bring the power of oats to new categories and grow the Quaker
business with highly incremental innovation that is truly new to the
Quaker portfolio and differentiated in the marketplace.
The team requires a hand-on food product development professional that is
highly creative and entrepreneurial with the technical breadth and
experience to develop product formulations across a wide range of food
systems that are new-to-Quaker.
Key
Accountabilities:
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
·
Support new idea generation, prototype development,
product optimization, and production start-up as part of the product
development life cycle.
·
Utilize scientific methods to develop knowledge that
creates business opportunities that support the company strategic market
objectives.
·
Provide technical and business risk
assessment/perspectives related to new product development.
·
Design and execute experiments, and analyze and interpret
data to make sound technical recommendations on product and process
issues.
·
Know in detail and follow the innovation process to ensure
a robust product design.
·
Leverage external and internal experts for key analytical
and sensory research.
·
Perform basic economic evaluations on ingredients,
ingredient suppliers, and product formulations
·
Develop product formulations that leverages expertise in
food chemistry and food ingredient functionality
·
Develop complete product attribute specifications for new
products.
·
Partner externally to source ingredients and leverage
vendor expertise in ingredient functionality.
TEAMWORK
·
Participate as an active member of cross-functional
business development teams comprised of individuals from a variety of
disciplines, including Marketing, Purchasing, Engineering, and other
groups.
·
Work together with the Technology Applications and New
Platforms team to develop strategic and competitive solutions for the
platform.
·
Partnering with R&D disciplines as Quality Assurance,
Food Safety, Nutrition, Regulatory, to ensure a
robust, safe and legal product design.
Qualifications:
·
B.S. Food Science (or equivalent)
·
2+ years professional experience
·
Baked goods experience highly desired
·
Culinary training a strong plus
·
Background in development and commercialization of new
products and/or support of operations is a plus
·
The ability and interest to work in test kitchen,
laboratory, pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments is required
·
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
·
Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time
