Scientist – Davis, CA
USA, Inc. has an opportunity for a Food Scientist at our facility in Davis,
California. The primary duty of the Food Scientist is to support breeding
and product development activities through food quality analysis. The
position identifies and implements novel food quality traits, and
coordinates global food quality activities in support of Nunhems breeding.
position requires a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Food Science, or related
field, plus three (3) years experience as a researcher or in a related
position engaged in food quality analysis research. Experience must include
three (3) years demonstrated experience in all of the following: 1) mass
spectrometry for application in flavor profiling, including MALDI-TOF; 2)
quantitative analysis, liquid chromatography, conversion of chromatography
and mass spectrometry assays to a low-cost high-throughput assay; 3)
chemistry techniques and living biological systems and techniques,
including at least 3 of the following: electroporation, isogenic strains,
molecular/microbial genetics, and/or gene product assay; and 4) chemistry
of polysaccharides and dietary fiber. Experience must also include two (2)
years demonstrated experience in each of the following: 1) microbiology
techniques to evaluate food quality shelf-life; and 2) industry/commercial
application of research analysis resulting in commercial products. All
experience may have been gained concurrently and may have been gained prior
to, concurrent with, or following completion of a Ph.D. degree program.
