What would I be responsible for?

Overall the incumbent manages and conducts routine, non-routine and complex
research and development activities concerned with the chemical, biological
and/or physical nature of food in order to evaluate and improve the quality
of existing products and related processes and to develop new products and
processes.
Responsibilities include: Project Results: - Manages and conducts multiple,
independent and complex research and/or development projects. Defines
project objectives, organizing and prioritizing tasks and conducting
experiments and analyses. - Designs and conducts shelf life studies,
including product and package performance under various conditions and
makes recommendations for appropriate adjustments in product and/or package
as required.
Communication: - Makes presentations of results and recommendations to
various groups, both internally and externally. - Maintains accurate, up to
date records, laboratory notebooks and computer databases that are
repeatable and reproducible.
Research: - Prepares prototype products using research lab, pilot lab,
manufacturing facilities and equipment, as required. - Provides solutions
to a wide range of difficult problems by applying advanced technical
knowledge and extensive experience. - Works with outside labs,
universities, ingredient suppliers, and equipment vendors as needed by
project activity. - Performs measurements and statistical analysis. Sets
up, operates and maintains pilot lab and research lab equipment. - Selects
and evaluates raw materials.
Leadership: - Leads, trains and mentors technicians. Provides technical
advice to others within specialty. - Ensures the work environment is
sanitary, safe and orderly. - Participates or leads cross R&D teams. -
Performs related responsibilities, as needed, to support Rich Products
Corporation's business objectives.
What do I need to be considered a candidate?
Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related field and 4 - 5 years job
related experience or, M.S. in related field and 2 years job related experience.
Food product development experience; preference will be given to those with
bakery products experience.
Ability to work effectively with R&D peers, Project Team members and
plant personnel to drive results.
Ability to coach/lead less experienced R&D associates.
Ability to collaborate with customers to determine requirements and design
tailored products.
Proficient in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office
Suite.
Strong communication skills and influence management skills.
Travel Requirements: Travels regularly (up to 25% of time)
