Quality Control Manager
Pet Factory Inc, - Mundelein, IL


Job Purpose

The Quality Professional coordinates and executes the quality program designed to ensure the quality and food safety production of Pet Factory Inc. products are consistent with established standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Diffuse the tools and instruments for Quality (Quality System Management, HACCP, Integrated Pest Management, GMP) and guarantee their correct application and improvement.
  • Ensure that all the measures to guarantee finished products’ compliance with specifications are properly executed.
  • Coordinate the Plant and warehouse QC activities following established guidelines and methods.
  • Analyze the data related to Quality and use it to promote the continuous improvement of the Raw Materials, Packaging Materials and Finished Products Technical Specifications.
  • Be the recognized technical reference supporting all Company departments for Quality related issues.
  • Apply the Company’s set of Vendor Assurance tools for Raw Materials, Packaging Materials, Finished Products and Logistics providers from approval to performance evaluation.
  • Provide prompt and accurate information/documentation in case of Food Safety Crisis.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction/effectiveness improvement projects.
  • Audit suppliers for their approval and suggest improvements to their Quality Systems and follow up.
  • Audit existing Facility on Quality and Food Safety Programs as deemed necessary by SQF.
  • Represent the interface between the facility and the suppliers for all problems related to supplies quality.
  • Work on eliminating complaints.
  • Assist in managing and reconciling Distribution and Warehouse Hold material, in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality or related field
  • 3-5 years of food manufacturing company experience
  • 3-5 years of work experience in Quality Management with responsibilities including root cause analysis, quality management, continuous improvement, and non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience with GFSI Certification, Ideally SQF
  • Food Safety experience preferred
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement in the quality arena through the use of quality management tools
  • Strong project management skills/capabilities; proven ability to act independently and also work within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
